TORONTO – Apple’s “Shot on iPhone 6” billboard campaign has taken a different twist in San Francisco thanks to a guerrilla advertising campaign.
Earlier this month, Apple launched globally the “Shot on iPhone 6” advertising campaign which features crowdsourced images from iPhone 6 users.
The billboard campaign features stunning images (allegedly) taken with the tech giant’s latest phone, with “Shot on iPhone 6” printed under the image, along with the photographer’s name.
However, two Bay-area creative advertising professionals have been plastering counter-campaign posters next to the Apple ads.

The images are mostly selfies and feature “Also Shot on iPhone 6” text under the self portrait.
“Our thought was that people don’t always take pretty pictures on their phones, so we thought it would be funny to show the other, non-beautiful, photos people take,” one of the campaign’s creators (who wished not be named) told Refinery29. “We both work as creatives in advertising and love to poke fun of our industry whenever it takes itself seriously.”
