TORONTO – Organizers of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games unveiled Tuesday the gold, silver and bronze medals athletes will be competing for this summer.

The medals were supplied by Toronto-based Barrick Gold Corporation from three of its operations across the Americas: copper from Chile; silver from the Dominican Republic; and gold from its Hemlo mine in Ontario.

Braille is also imprinted for the first time in both the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games’ history.

The ancient technique of mokume gane was used to create the medals by fusing different alloys together making each of them unique.
