PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – Paramedics in Prince Albert, Sask. utilized their mobile response unit (MRU) this weekend when an ambulance was not able to get close enough to retrieve a patient due to the terrain. A 23-year-old woman was injured Sunday while cross-country skiing in Little Red River Park.
Parkland Ambulance was informed of the injured woman at 1:45 p.m. and used the quad-like vehicle to travel approximately 1.5 kilometres on trails to reach the patient and safely bring her to a side road.

The injured woman was transferred to a waiting ambulance which took her to the local hospital. She is now in stable condition.
Parkland Ambulance say this is the first time the MRU has been deployed this winter; however, it is has proved to be a valuable asset several times in the past.
