Dawson Creek RCMP investigate possible abduction and shooting

Police in Dawson Creek are investigating after a man was allegedly abducted and shot multiple times.

While attending a hospital for an unrelated matter in the early morning hours on Saturday, officers located a 26-year-old man who had been shot multiple times outside the hospital emergency entrance.

Police say the man had been abducted near the intersection of 102nd Avenue and 17th Street in Dawson Creek between the hours of 10:30 p.m. and midnight on Feb.20.

They say the man was abducted by multiple suspects and was forced into a pickup truck by the parking lot of Bergeron Funeral Home.

The man was then taken to a rural location, where he was shot multiple times.

Investigators say the victim managed to drag himself back to a roadway and was picked up and brought to hospital.

He is out of surgery and is currently listed in stable condition.

Police believe the matter is drug related and is the result of ongoing gang violence in the Peace Region.

Investigators have identified a number of persons of interest and continue to seek the public assistance in this matter.

They are looking for any witnesses who may have seen the struggle by the funeral home.
