STURGEON LANDING, Sask. – A man wanted in an alleged abduction and shooting death in Saskatchewan has been located by police. Mounties say Jonas Budd has been located at a residence in Sturgeon Landing, Sask.
Police say they are currently in communication with Budd and have established a perimeter around the area.
Officials say the public can expect to see a larger police presence in the community as the situation plays out.

Budd is accused of killing Dustin Bird, 17, at a residence on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band Wednesday morning, and then abducting a 17-year-old girl.

An Amber Alert was issued Wednesday morning for the girl which was later cancelled when she was found unharmed near Cranberry Portage, Man.
Budd was not located at the time and police believed he had fled into the bush.
Sturgeon Landing is on the Saskatchewan-Manitoba border, approximately 50 kilometres southwest over land from Cranberry Portage.
Mounties say Budd is the estranged common-law partner of the girl’s mother and reports say Bird was the girl’s boyfriend.
Police say Budd is well known to the La Ronge detachment but have not provided further details on his criminal record.
