Patient assaulted with pool cue at Saskatchewan Hospital

NORTH BATTLEFORD, Sask. – Assault charges are pending against a man after an incident at Saskatchewan Hospital in North Battleford Saturday morning. Officials say a male patient assaulted another patient and a staff member with a pool cue.

The suspect then caused damage to the facility by discharging multiple fire extinguishers before escaping. RCMP quickly arrested the man, who was on foot.

The assaulted patient was taken to Battlefords Union Hospital for treatment of injuries and has since been released.

The facility is Saskatchewan’s only provincial psychiatric rehabilitation hospital.
