UPDATE: One dead after crash in Yorkton, Sask.

YORKTON, Sask. – A man has been killed after a crash overnight Thursday in Yorkton, Sask. The single-vehicle crash happened at the intersection of Gladstone Avenue and Independent Street.

An initial investigation has revealed that a Pontiac Grand AM was travelling north on Gladstone when it lost control, struck and dislodged a power pole and came to rest along some bushes.

The 23-year-old driver, from Yorkton, died at the scene. His name has not been released and an autopsy has been ordered.

A 15-year-old boy who was a passenger of the vehicle has since been released from hospital.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist will continue to assist in the investigation.

SaskPower completed repairs in the area and power was restored to impacted homes.
