REGINA – RCMP were on the scene of a car crash that claimed the lives of five people.
RCMP were called to Highway 6 about 15 kilometers north of Regina for the collision. The lone male driver of a Chevrolet Avalanche has died and a woman driving a blue Subaru Outback, plus her one female and two male passengers, were also killed. A man and woman in a grey Ford Focus have both been rushed to a Regina hospital with undetermined injuries.
Mandy Maier with the RCMP said the cause of the crash is still under investigation but said road conditions may have played a role in the crash. “Definitely there’s drifting snow, blowing snow,” she explained. “It’s not snowing right now but snow in previous days means there’s light snow around blowing across the road and stuff like that.”
Maier added that the full investigation could take up to three months to complete.
Highway 6 is now open in both directions. Motorists are asked to use caution and drive for the conditions of the road.
