CALGARY – Police have arrested a dozen people and seized millions of dollars worth of drugs following a year-long investigation into a local organized crime group.
The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) executed seven search warrants in Calgary on February 4th, confiscating $5 million worth of drugs and arresting 12 people.
Of the dozen suspects arrested, their roles in the operation allegedly vary from suppliers and manufacturers to street-level traffickers.
They are facing 66 charges, including conspiracy, organized crime, drugs, weapons, and proceeds of crime.

Those arrested include:
- Donna Thanh Phoung Tran, a 33-year-old woman from Calgary
- Ronald Gene Wan Wong, 35-year-old man from Calgary
- Mustafa Al-Bedrawi, a 23-year-old man from Calgary
- Khoa That Ton, a 29-year-old man from Calgary
- Tommy That Ton, a 19-year-old man from Calgary
- Nguyen Duong Yen Phung Tran, a 19-year-old woman from Calgary
- Thanh Hoang Tony Truong, 34-year-old man from Calgary
- Duy-Tam Benny Phan, a 20-year-old man from Calgary
- Tam Thanh Bryan Phan, a 19-year-old man from Calgary
- James Joseph Bailey, 43-year-old man from Surrey, B.C.
- Todd Randall Chapman, a 31-year-old man from Smithers, B.C.
- Dennis Galen Ross, a 27-year-old man from Smithers, B.C.
Police allege the group operated under the leadership of Tran and Wong.
Investigators believe the group supplied drugs throughout the province.
The drugs seized include:
- 40 kilograms of cocaine
- 11,597 fentanyl pills
- 1.2 kilograms of methamphetamine
- 545 grams of heroin
- 182 grams of MDMA
- 450 grams of marihuana
- 60 kilograms of Phenacetin
Investigators say the cocaine and fentanyl seizures are the largest of their kind by ALERT.
Police also seized a variety of weapons were, including a Glock handgun that had been previously reported stolen and a TEC-9 handgun.
