REGINA – Saskatchewan’s highest court has upheld the manslaughter conviction and seven year sentence of a man convicted of smothering a toddler.
Jason Will admitted to placing his hand on 18-month-old Raime Myer’s mouth when the child wouldn’t go to sleep.
A few days later, the toddler was dead from a lack of oxygen to the brain.
Will maintained his innocence but today the court of appeals dismissed his attempts to overturn his conviction and set aside his sentence.
The court also turned down an appeal by the crown to impose a longer sentence.
