MELVILLE, Sask. – The best Saskatchewan men’s curlers gathered in Melville, Sask. to see who would be crowned provincial champion. It came down to a battle between two teams from the Nutana Curling Club in Saskatoon.
On Sunday afternoon, it was Steve Laycock versus Jason Jacobson in the final of the SaskTel Tankard. It was a back-and-forth match but Laycock’s crew came out on top 8-7.
Last year, Team Laycock beat Regina’s Brock Virtue in the provincial men’s championship.
Steve Laycock, Kirk Muyres, Colton Flasch, Dallan Muyres and coach Lyle Muyres will now represent Saskatchewan at the 2015 Tim Hortons Brier which starts Feb. 28 in Calgary.

Sixteen teams took part at the 2015 SaskTel Tankard men’s curling championship between Feb.4 and 8 at the Horizon Credit Union Centre in Melville.
Stefanie Lawton’s squad, also from the Nutana Curling Club, will represent Saskatchewan at the Scotties Tournaments of Hearts which starts this Thursday in Moose Jaw.
