SASKATOON – A Saskatoon man will be seeing a justice of the peace after leading police on a chase through city streets Friday morning. It started when police were told that a truck had been stolen from the 100-block of Ruth Street around 4 a.m.
The truck was located by a canine unit around 75 minutes later. Stop sticks were successfully used to deflate the passenger side tires but the driver refused to stop.

Police say he drove slowly westbound on Spadina from Avenue C until he was cornered in a parking lot at 20th Street West and Avenue P South. At that time, he ran into a police car and left the parking lot.
The chase then continued eastbound down 20th Street. It came to an end when the driver crashed into a pole in a parking lot at 20th and Avenue H South.
Police say speeds were between 50 and 60 km/h during the chase.
The 19-year-old man is facing charges of possession of stolen property under $5,000, dangerous driving, evading police and assaulting a police officer.

Police officials are using the incident to remind everyone not to leave keys in their vehicles, whether or not the vehicle is locked.
