Saskatoon police charge two teens in Buena Vista shooting

SASKATOON – Two teens are facing charges after a shooting in the Buena Vista neighbourhood Tuesday morning. There had also been reports of an earlier shooting in the 1300-block of 20th Street West.

The Buena Vista shooting happened just before 8 a.m. in the 200-block of 1st Street East. Police found evidence a firearm had been discharged and witnesses reported two men had fled the area.

Members of the targeted enforcement unit, SCHCAP, the street gang unit and patrol officers located a number of people in an apartment in the same block as the 20th Street shooting.

The two teens were arrested and police seized a sawed off shotgun and a sawed off .22 calibre firearm.

One teen, 17, is charged with two counts of discharging a firearm with intent to injure and one count of breach of probation. A 19-year-old man is charged with discharging a firearm with intent to injure and breaching an undertaking.

Both were scheduled to see a judge in Saskatoon provincial court on Wednesday.
