WATCH: Canadian climber tackles frozen Niagara Falls

Unsuspecting visitors to Niagara Falls were treated to quite the sight Wednesday.

Pro climber Will Gadd was spotted ascending a treacherous 54-metre frozen wall on the American side of Niagara Falls .

Gadd, dubbed “The Captain of Adventure,” is a Red Bull athlete, which was filming the stunt.

He described the history-making ascent to Red Bull.

“The massive water flow constantly shakes the ground, and makes the ice shelves and walls around you unsteady and unpredictable,” Gadd said. “It’s a harsh environment and an intense challenge to stay attached to the wall, let alone climb it.”

According to reports, the New York State Parks Police initially said that the climbing was just a part of their “training exercises,” but later admitted that they were on site for the Will Gadd/Red Bull film project.
