Mario Beaulieu to run in La Pointe-de-l’Ile

MONTREAL – Bloc Québécois Leader Mario Beaulieu has chosen to run in the Montreal riding of La Pointe-de -l’Ile.

The riding was won by the NDP in the last election after having long been represented by the Bloc’s Francine Lalonde, who died last year .

In an interview with The Canadian Press, Mario Beaulieu would not confirm the information, saying only that he had recently moved to the area and that he will make an announcement soon.

On Saturday afternoon, Beaulieu will present his first official candidate in Rouyn-Noranda.

Former journalist, Yvon Moreau will run in the riding of Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

Mario Beaulieu emphasised that all Bloc candidates will come from different walks of life, including artists, trade unionists and business people.

He said they will all make it a priority to defend national interests of Quebec in Ottawa, and to promote sovereignty.
