WINNIPEG — Winnipeg’s newest library opened its doors to the public for the first time today.
The Charleswood Library celebrated the opening of its new location at 4910 Roblin Boulevard with music and food.
Mayor Brian Bowman spoke to the crowd about the new additions the library has to offer. People who attended the grand opening were given the chance to try out the eLibrary of free downloadable eBooks, eMagazines and streaming movies and music.
A ‘book chain’ was formed by volunteers who wanted to help move the final books from the old location to the new. The volunteers lined up and handed the books one at a time down the chain of people all the way from the old library at 5014 Roblin Boulevard to the new one at 4910 Roblin Boulevard.
