WINNIPEG — Much of southern Manitoba was snowy and blustery Wednesday, but it was also the first time since Dec. 22 that temperatures in Winnipeg got above 0 C.
An Alberta Clipper left a light dusting of snow. A number of communities also saw their temperatures climb above the freezing mark, with McCreary the provincial hot spot at 3.9 C.
Temperatures peaked close to midnight and throughout Thursday a cooling trend will continue, as most of the province is sitting under a high pressure system with winds out of the north. Temperatures will continue to fall into Friday morning, when the next Clipper is expected to arrive.

Typically, such systems leave a lot of snow around the Parklands and southwestern Manitoba. This one will impact the northern half of the province, with five to 10 centimetres of snow likely in some areas. In the south, there will be flurries as temperatures start to warm up again.
Just like the last Clipper, this one will bring around another dose of mild weather, with temperatures climbing through Friday into Saturday, peaking near the freezing mark.
Mild temperatures are expected to continue through the weekend and into early next week, when there’s a chance temperatures could get above 0 C again.
