Jury selection is scheduled to begin today in a homegrown terrorism plot, centered on the Legislative buildings in Victoria.
Thirty-eight-year-old John Nuttall and his girlfriend Amanda Korody, 28, were charged with attempting to detonate homemade pressure-cooker bombs outside the Legislature during Canada Day festivities in 2013.
The couple is facing numerous terrorism-related charges, including knowingly facilitating a terrorist activity and making or having in possession an explosive substance with intent to endanger life or cause serious damage to property. If convicted, they could face life in prison.

Nuttall was eventually moved to a psychiatric hospital after his arrest. He has a long criminal record, and court records date back to 2002.
Investigators said they believed the couple was inspired by al Qaeda ideology, but that there were no direct links to a terrorist group.
