Alberta RCMP officer taken to hospital after cruiser rolls

MORINVILLE, Alta. – RCMP say an officer has been taken to hospital following a rollover northwest of Edmonton.

Spokeswoman Josee Valiquette says it doesn’t appear the St. Albert Mountie is seriously injured. The accident happened near Morinville. The officer lost control of the vehicle on ice and rolled the car into the ditch.

The only person inside was a male RCMP officer. He was wearing his seatbelt and was taken to Sturgeon Hospital for a precautionary exam.

Valiquette says the officer is with the nearby St. Albert detachment and had been asked to help with a call.

She says Mounties in the Morinville area are busy dealing with a separate, serious collision.
