Missing Nakusp woman found dead in submerged car

 83-year-old Kay Mansour from Nakusp was reported missing on November 4th after not being seen since October 24th when she was on her way to Revelstoke for a medical appointment.

The last time she was spotted she was sitting in her car along Highway 23 just north of the Shelter Bay Ferry Landing, approximately 56 kilometres south of Revelstoke.

Mansour’s vehicle was located submerged in Upper Arrow Lake by RCMP Air Services on November 5th, the RCMP helicopter located the completely submerged vehicle approximately 25 kilometres south of Revelstoke on Highway 23.

On Sunday morning, members of the Southeast District dive team and Revelstoke Search & Rescue recovered the single occupant from the vehicle.

Preliminary investigation showed that the vehicle left the road, rolled down the embankment and came to rest in approximately 14 feet of water.

Mansour was not able to escape before succumbing to the cold water.

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of Southeast District traffic analyst and BC Coroners Service, next of kin have been notified.
