Calgary’s Distress Centre says the rate of distress calls is lower this holiday season compared to last year.

Forty-five people contacted the centre with suicidal thoughts in 2014.

Intervention from 911 services was needed in six of these cases.

Thirty-five people contacted the centre in 2013, and five of them required 911 interventions.

The centre’s 24-hour crisis line is 403-266-4357, and online help is also available.
