WATCH: Hollywood director Judd Apatow criticizes Ontario venues for not cancelling their Bill Cosby shows. Mark Carcasole reports.
TORONTO — Director-producer Judd Apatow has slammed two Canadian venues where Bill Cosby is set to perform in January.
On Boxing Day, the man behind films like The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up tweeted at the Centre in the Square in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ont. and at Bud Gardens in London, Ont.
“Is Cosby only popular in Ontario Canada at this point?,” he tweeted.
Cosby, who is facing allegations of sexual assault from more than a dozen women, has a Jan. 7 show in Kitchener-Waterloo and a Jan. 8 show in London.
He is also scheduled to perform Jan. 9 in Hamilton, Ont.

Several venues in the U.S. have cancelled Cosby’s shows in light of the accusations.
Cosby has not been charged with any crimes and none of the allegations against him have been proven in court.

In November, Centre in the Square said it would have to breach its contract to pull the plug on Cosby’s performance and “pay any guarantee fee contracted to Mr. Cosby and compensate the promoter for any losses from box office and show expenses.”
It would also be responsible for refunding patrons for tickets.
“While we may personally share concerns raised by the community, if The Centre forces cancellation of this rental show it isn’t simply a situation of giving back the rent,” read a statement posted online.
London’s Bud Gardens has also said it is contractually unable to cancel the show.
Apatow indicated he’s aware of the contracts Cosby’s promoter has with the venues.
“I get it,” he tweeted. “But he shouldn’t perform.
“Guys who rape a lot aren’t cool.”
Protests are planned outside all three Ontario venues on the nights of Cosby’s performances.
