Duplex fire sends man to Saskatoon hospital

SASKATOON – A man was sent to a Saskatoon hospital with smoke inhalation after a fire late Saturday evening. The fire broke out in a basement suite located in a duplex at 824 Avenue L South just before 11:30 p.m.

Arriving crews opened the front door to the duplex to find heavy black smoke coming from the basement suite. The fire was contained to the kitchen and put out in four minutes.

A 48-year-old was rescued from a bedroom. He was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and taken to Royal University Hospital for further examination. His name has not been released.
