CALGARY – A 35-year-old man was hit and killed on the Trans-Canada Highway on Saturday.
It happened in the westbound lanes of Highway 1, a few kilometers west of Calgary.
RCMP say the victim was walking facing away from traffic around 6 a.m. when he was hit by a passing motorist.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s identity is being withheld at the request of family, but RCMP say he is from Stoney Nation.
The motorist who hit the pedestrian was shaken but not injured.
Investigators say neither alcohol nor speed are considered factors, but roads were wet and snow-covered at the time.
So far, no charges have been laid.
