Lane disappeared on February 7, 2012; his remains were found several months later. The three accused were arrested in November 2012 fall and have been in custody ever since.

Police say they believe Lane was killed while embroiled in a custody dispute involving a girl he fathered with Sheena Cuthill Rempel.

Lane’s family was at court on Friday and expressed relief at the ruling.

A trial has been set for March of 2016.
