TORONTO — The stars of three Global series are among nominees announced Tuesday for the 46th annual NAACP Image Awards.
L.L. Cool J of NCIS: LA, Nicole Beharie of Sleepy Hollow and Alfred Woodard of State of Affairs are nominated for acting awards.
In film categories, the Martin Luther King drama Selma earned eight nominations and the James Brown biopic got five.
Big screen acting nods went to stars like Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, Oprah Winfrey and Cedric the Entertainer.
TV shows Black-ish, Orange is the New Black and Scandal earned six nominations each.
How to Get Away With Murder has five nods.
Music nominees include Pharrell Williams and Beyonce (with four each).
The video for the Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson duet “Love Never Felt So Good” — a song co-written by Canada’s Paul Anka — is up for Outstanding Music Video.
The NAACP Image Awards, which honour the work of people of colour in the creative arts, will be handed out Feb. 6.
