CALGARY – The mother of Lisa Michelle Mitchell is speaking about her loss, days after police confirmed her daughter was murdered.
“It’s your little girl, right. You don’t want that for anybody, let alone your own daughter,” Peggy Mitchell said Monday.
Mitchell went missing from her home in Ogden in 2012.
On Friday, police raided a home in that neighbourhood and recovered her remains.

“Devastation. It’s not the kind of closure you want.”
Mitchell’s common-law husband Allan Shyback is now in jail, charged with second-degree murder and indignity to a human body.
In an exclusive interview, Peggy Mitchell told Global News she is trying to focus on the light Lisa brought into the world; remembering her for her smile, her art and her love for her kids.
“Everything was for the kids,” said Mitchell. “Everything.”
“I worry about the impact on the kids a lot.”
Mitchell says there are still many questions she wants answers to, including what happened to her daughter and whether she suffered.
“Some people may not want to know all the answers, I’m not one of those,” Mitchell said.
Allan Shyback is due in court on Tuesday.
