Watch above: Holiday shoppers at Saskatoon’s Lawson Heights Mall got a surprise when a bagpipe flash mob appeared out of nowhere.
SASKATOON – Holiday shoppers at Lawson Heights Mall got a big surprise on Sunday when a Celtic flash mob appeared out of nowhere. One by one, bagpipers popped out of their hiding spots at the food court and began playing holiday classics.
Hundreds of onlookers witnessed the surprising performance. The flash mob was organized by the North Saskatchewan Regiment Pipes and Drums.
Sandy Campbell, a pipe major and one of the organizers of the flash mob, said the event was simply to put smiles on people’s faces.
“We did it last year … this is our day when we have our Christmas party and we do a lot of performances throughout the year, a lot of parades and everything,” said Campbell.
“Somebody just brought it up in a meeting, this whole concept of a flash mob, and we thought what a great way to celebrate our day and pass along some joy during the Christmas season.”
