Murder charge laid in northern Alberta death

EDMONTON — A 32-year-old man has been charged in the death of a man in northern Alberta earlier this week.

On Sunday, Nov. 30, Wood Buffalo RCMP were called to a residence on the Gregoire Lake Reserve, which is located southeast of Fort McMurray. Officers say a man was found dead inside the residence.

Cst. Kandice Perry with Wood Buffalo RCMP says Cody Woodward, 32, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder. She says Woodward and the victim, who has not been identified, were known to each other.

Woodward has been taken into custody. He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 8.

Gregoire Lake is located about 421 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
