SASKATOON – The Saskatoon Fire Department received multiple calls of a garage fire in the Arbour Creek neighbourhood at around 3:40 p.m. Saturday. First responders arrived at 130 Eastman Cove to find black smoke coming from the structure.
Crews heard the lone occupant had evacuated the building prior to their arrival. A search of the two-storey home was done to confirm no one remained inside.
Firefighters then attacked the blaze and had it under control in just over 40 minutes. The fire department says the fuel load inside the garage and bitter temperatures hampered their efforts, which extended into Saturday night.
Investigators have determined the cause of the fire was accidental in nature. Damage is estimated at $300,000.
No injuries were reported.
