SASKATOON – Members of the Saskatoon Fire Department were called to a house fire in the Brevoort Park neighbourhood during the noon hour Wednesday.
The first crew to arrive found white smoke expelling from the roof and chimney at 1326 Conn Avenue.
The home’s occupants and their two cats evacuated safely.
Firefighters attacked the blaze from within the home but most of the fire had spread behind a wall and into the attic. Crews cut holes into the chimney chase and exterior of the building to extinguish the rest of the flames.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire has been deemed accidental and damage is estimated at $20,000.
The fire department is reminding everyone to test smoke detectors regularly.
