VERNON – The death of a young worker at a North Okanagan mill was deemed accidental by a coroner’s inquest on Friday.
The workplace fatality involved 18-year old Bradley Haslam of Lumby in June, 2013.
Haslam died of blunt trauma after getting caught in a conveyor belt at the Tolko planer mill in Lavington.

The jury has made seven recommendations to prevent a similar death in the future.
One of those recommendations is sharing the lessons learned and safety upgrades implemented since the death with other mill operators.
The Haslam family chose not to comment to media following the jury’s ruling.
