New high-rise developments are springing up around Skytrain stations all around Lower Mainland and for the past three years, developers have been paying into the Skytrain system, either by financing improvements to stations, or in one case building an entirely new station.
In Richmond, three companies will split the $30 million bill for a new stop on Canada Line.
Developers also helped pay for the Lincoln station in Coquitlam.
Along with more stations, builders are also funding 35 improvement throughout the system, including cosmetic upgrades.
Translink says they welcome the improvements that help them to offset taxpayer cost with a contribution from a developer.
The partnerships have only existed for three years and have already injected Translink with more than $25 million.
