An updated iPhone is the crown jewel of Apple’s latest round of product releases, eagerly awaited by tech geeks and gurus, investors and media attending the company’s latest product announcement at Apple headquarters in Cupertino, Calif.
The new iPhone is expected to have a number of changes, the biggest of which will likely be under the hood. That would be Apple’s latest iOS mobile software, iOS 5, which has been slated for release this fall. It’s also expected the phone will get a makeover on its camera – bumped up from the existing 5-megapixel camera on the iPhone 4.

Beyond the iPhone itself, the Tuesday event was Apple’s first major product unveiling in years not led by Steve Jobs, who resigned from the CEO post in August after being out on indefinite medical leave since January. The company’s new CEO, Tim Cook, delivered the keynote address at the event, which is garnering major attention on social media.
