VERNON — A city of Vernon dump truck was the victim of a sinkhole this morning.
There was a water main break about 1:30 on 31st Street between 33d Avenue and 34th and the water was shut off as soon as it was spotted.

The roadway was closed off and only city vehicles were allowed in.
Unfortunately when crews arrived to start repairs one of their dump trucks broke through the pavement, probably weakened by the water flow.
The break should be repaired early this afternoon.
