Etsy to open one day pop-up shop in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG – If you’re a big online shopper, you’ve definitely heard of Etsy.

The online market is popping up across the country for it’s first ever “Made in Canada” series.

The concept is to design a space to connect local Etsy sellers and shoppers within the community.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

More than 40 vendors will take over the St. James Civic Centre at 2055 Ness Ave. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 27 to feature their local, hand-crafted products.

From pottery and knit goods, to jewelry and clothing, the market promises something for everyone.

As part of the Canadian pilot project, pop-up markets are scheduled to take place in more than 20 cities country-wide.

“Etsy is powered by the people who use it, which is a pretty amazing thing,” said Erin Green, country manager for Etsy Canada. “We see this initiative as an investment.”
