Vancouver has always had a reputation as a clean city, but some are wondering if it’s starting to slip.

“People just seem to leave their garbage wherever they want, a lot of cigarette butts everywhere,” says Lees.
According to the city, the amount of litter tossed onto city streets every year is increasing. A significant amount of it is collected by community street cleaners, but much of it still remains — tarnishing Vancouver’s green city image.
A recent poll by Insights West found littering is British Columbians’ biggest pet peeve.
Many Vancouver residents say there aren’t enough garbage cans — something the city says it’s working to address.
Officials plan to add about 200 garbage bins over the next year, mainly near public transit stops and stations.
