The mayor’s office released a statement shortly after his release thanking hospital staff “for the exceptional level of care he received.”

“Mayor Ford would like to express his gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of support from the people of Toronto,” the statement read.

The mayor dropped out of the mayoral campaign two weeks ago after undergoing a biopsy on a tumour in his abdomen two weeks ago.

He is still on the ballot for councillor in Ward 2.
