Langley RCMP say two people are in hospital after a botched break-and-enter Monday afternoon.

Police say a resident arrived home to his residence in the 10100-block of Allard Crescent with a friend around 1 p.m., when he was confronted by a man who had apparently broken into the home.

The suspect was carrying a large knife, and the resident and suspect got into a fight and fell down a set of stairs.

The suspect was stabbed in the leg and the resident was stabbed in the hand during the fall. The suspect then tried to steal the resident’s friend’s vehicle but was unsuccessful. He was pulled from the vehicle and police arrived on scene.

Police say it appears the suspect arrived at the home on a motorbike reported stolen in Maple Ridge. Police also arrested a woman who was standing at the entrance to the property during the melee, as it’s believed she is associated with the suspect.
