SASKATOON – Saskatoon joined more than 2,500 cities around the world in marching to raise awareness of climate change Sunday.
The ‘People’s Climate March’ was held in Friendship Park and comes two days before world leaders will convene for the United Nations climate summit.
Local environmentalists say they’re frustrated Prime Minister Stephen Harper isn’t planning to attend the summit.

Organizers say Saskatoon is behind many other cities in North America when it comes to carbon emissions and eco-friendly practises.
“I’m hoping to see more solar panels; we have lights on at night which is awesome you need to be able to see but why don’t we have those lights powered by solar panels,” said Chanda Chabot, Saskatoon People’s Climate March organizer.
“Why don’t we have homes powered with wind energy, there’s a copious amount of wind in Saskatchewan so it would just be great to see that.”
