Made-in-Canada NHL video game posts record sales numbers

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Electronic Arts says its made-in-Canada NHL video game drummed up more than US$27 million in sales in its first week in stores.

EA, citing internal estimates, said the “NHL 12” figures represent the biggest launch week in franchise history, up 19 per cent across Europe and North America.

The game launched Sept. 9 in Europe and Sept. 13 in North America.

“NHL 12,” developed by EA Canada in Burnaby, B.C., sold more than 451,000 copies worldwide in its first week.
