Oscar de la Renta to use Tumblr, crowdsourcing for Spring 2012 collection

Oscar de la Renta is embracing social media to showcase his latest collection.

The fashion designer is one of many embracing the web and social media tools such as Tumblr and Twitter during New York Fashion Week.

On Tuesday at 6pm ET Oscar de la Renta will show his Spring 2012 collection, not only on a New York runway, but also at odlrlive.tumblr.com.

By providing your email address, you have read and agree to Global News' Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

Users can upload their photos to the site by using the tag #ODLRLIVE. Photos will be uploaded in real-time, creating an engaging look at the fashion show, from the perspective of models, editors, photographers, and front-row fashionistas.

Fifteen minutes before the show starts the Tumblr site will also live stream a backstage interview with the designer.

This year more collections at New York Fashion Week are being live streamed than ever before. Using social media tools such as Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube designers and models give fans access to their favourite fashions in a way previously unavailable.
