WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Jets have signed unrestricted free agent defenceman Keaton Ellerby. The 25-year-old finished the season with the Jets but was not extended a qualifying offer back in June making him an unrestricted free agent.

Ellerby agreed to a one year, two-way contract worth $700,000 if he makes the Jets lineup. It is a small pay cut from the $735,000 he made last season. Ellerby had two goals and four assists in 51 games with the Jets after they claimed him off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings.

The Jets coaching staff will also see a minor change after video coach Tony Borgford accepted a position within the Edmonton Oilers organization. Borgford is the Oklahoma City Barons’ new assistant coach and manager of hockey operations.
