According to a note posted to the band’s website, Whibley hurt his back during a show on the Warped Tour in Idaho on Friday.

The 31-year-old Whibley suffered a slipped disc in his back after being attacked in a Japanese bar roughly one year ago.
He later had to cancel more Sum 41 dates after he became stricken with pneumonia.
In its note, the band said that Whibley’s current back problems are linked to the incident in Japan.
“The injury that Deryck suffered last year after being assaulted at a bar in Japan has never fully healed and our demanding tour schedule has taken its toll on his body,” read the statement.
“We hate cancelling shows, but Deryck’s well being is our top priority and the best thing right now is to give him time to heal.
“Thank you for your understanding. We wish Deryck a quick recovery and look forward to getting back out on the road.”
