VANCOUVER, B.C. — Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson and his wife Amy Robertson have announced they are separating.
The former couple released the following statement today:
“As people close to our family are aware, we recently agreed to separate. This is a personal and private matter for our family, and contrary to false rumours being spread online, it is a mutual decision that we made amicably and together. We appreciate understanding and privacy, especially for our kids.”

The Mayor’s Office released a follow-up statement later in the afternoon, accusing the Non Partisan Association of maligning Robertson and calling on the party, including vice president Rob Macdonald and potential mayoral candidate Kirk LaPointe to answer the allegations of personal, public attacks.
Vision Vancouver’s campaign communications director told Global News the rumours are driven by a political agenda. “This is the kind of campaign the NPA seems to want to run,” she said.
NPA caucus chair and city councillor Elizabeth Ball told Global News the party supports the mayor’s request for privacy and denied suggestions the party released any information about the mayor’s personal life.
“All of us in public life are very, very careful about what we do…and any of us that have families have one interest and that’s to protect our family,” she said.
