NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. – Nik Wallenda is trying to sell the safety of his highwire act.
He wants to walk the 550 metres across Niagara Falls on a wire five centimetres in diameter sometime in 2012.

Wallenda and his technical team met with U.S. emergency responders Wednesday to address safety and logistical concerns and told them he will bring his own rescue crew.
The New York legislature has approved a bill to allow Wallenda’s act.
On this side of the border, the Niagara Parks Commission has no intent of greenlighting it even though the mayor of Niagara Falls and others back the plan.
Wallenda hopes to make his case to Canadian officials, including the Niagara Parks Commission, at a meeting today. (CKTB)
