A two-year-old mutt – believed to be a Chihuahua-Shih Tzu mix – has been named World’s Ugliest Dog for 2014.
Peanut, whose wild white and brown hair, bulging eyes and protruding teeth belie his sweet, energetic personality, beat out competitors from across the U.S.

The dog’s owner – Holly Chandler of Greenville, North Carolina – says Peanut was seriously burned as a puppy and she wants to use her pet to raise awareness about animal abuse.
The dogs are judged by a panel of three, who rate the animals on traits such as special or unusual attributes, personality and natural ugliness.
