HALIFAX – Police arrested an 18-year-old suspect after an episode of dangerous driving that ended in a head-on collision with an RCMP cruiser.
The incident began when Colchester RCMP responded to a report of an erratic driver near the Bible Hill detachment around 4:30 Saturday morning.
Police say the suspect allegedly drove aggressively around the detachment, across the lawn and through ditches, and did not stop for officers.
Officers pursued the vehicle through Truro, and onto Highway 102 where the suspect allegedly continued to drive dangerously.
The chase came to an end in Stewiacke when the driver’s vehicle drove head-on into an RCMP vehicle.
Both the driver and officer involved were taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The officer was released, but the suspect is still receiving treatment and remains in custody.
No members of the public were injured before or during the pursuit, according to police.
The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to contact the Colchester RCMP at (902) 893-6820.
