A Good Samaritan on the shore tried to swim out and save the kayaker some 200 metres away, but became stranded on a small island.
He was saved by a pilot in an Alpine Helicopters chopper who swooped down when he spotted the rescue efforts, flying the Good Samaritan to safety.
Emergency crews scouring the lake have have found the kayak and a life jacket, but not the missing kayaker.
The search resumed around 8 a.m. Monday with the help of a dive team. Helicopters were unable to take part in the search because of low cloud cover.
