Suspect in fatal Vaughan shooting arrested

TORONTO – York Regional Police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting north of Toronto on Friday night that left one man dead and another injured.

Police say 24-year-old David Odesho turned himself in Sunday night around 7 p.m.

He is charged with 1st Degree Murder and Attempted Murder.

Odesho remains in custody and is expected to appear in court Monday morning.

In a media release issued Saturday, investigators said police received a call at about 6:43 p.m. Friday about shots fired at a cafe in the area of Highway 7 and Martin Grove Road in Vaughan.

Officers arriving at the scene found two men suffering from gunshot wounds – one of whom, 36-year-old Sarhad Saddiq of Nobleton, Ontario died at the scene.

The other victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. His name is not being released.

There are no other suspects at this time, but police are still looking for a white, four-door 2011 Mazda 3 with Ontario licence plate BRFS 163.
